Playouts - Small Keep (Release Special)

Creative Mountain Games has released Playouts - Small Keep, a printable pdf layout of a four-story keep for use at the game table during play. In this PDF, you will find a small keep. It is four stories high with a sub-level that includes storage space and cells for prisoners or beasts. This small keep is perfect as a roadside toll collector, a starter-stronghold for up and coming PCs or even as a wizard's tower or knight's fortress!

Free PDF Weekend!

Remember that Free PDF Weekend is just around the corner. It coincides with Labor Day weekend in the USA, in 2007 from Friday, August 31st thru Monday, September 3rd, and comes roughly opposite of GM's Day on the yearly calendar. So what is it all about?

Well, primarily it is about the giving. It is about electronic publishers of pdfs getting the chance to make a grand gesture and give a little something extra to the fans. But it is also about the receiving. Customers receiving samples of the wares of many companies of which they may not have previously heard or tried.

So, those customers who are looking forward to the freebies, please feel free to post your excitement around various message boards and herald the event. Those publishers who are going to get involved this year, please feel free to jump right in and do whatever other promotion you feel necessary (starting your own message board threads, shooting off guns in the street, dancing until you drop, etc.)

I'll be posting more information here on my own involvement as the weekend approaches.

D&D 4E

For those who have not yet heard, WotC has announced the May 2008 release of the first book of the next edition of D&D (D&D 4E). For the next few days, most of the main websites are likely to be clobbered by traffic and down most of the time so I'll post a note with the links for the most pertinent information late in the weekend. For now, there is a video on YouTube that was used as part of the announcement presentation at GenCon Thursday (Aug 16th) evening. Enjoy!
