Throwback Thursday - Dragon #69 Adverts

Looking back to January 1983 and issue #69 of TSR's Dragon Magazine, here's a glimpse at what advertisers thought would stir the imaginations of gamers on the inside front cover, inside back cover, and back cover respectively.  The first was from TSR themselves for Star Frontiers.  The second was black and white from FASA for their great Star Trek game.  The last of the three leveraged the time honored Tolkien property from Iron Crown Enterprises.  Enjoy!

Throwback Thursday - 1970s Adverts

Many folks have been sharing old gaming industry advertisements on Facebook and elsewhere lately so I'v collected a few to share here.  The first is a very early Dungeons & Dragons advert for the original three booklets, so it might be as early as 1974.

This next one is a fine example of the work of Tom Wham doing an early Dungeon Hobby Shop advertisement from Dragon Magazine #7 in June 1977.  Tom's had recent surgery and we all wish him a speedy recovery!

This last one Battlegame Survival Kit dates from 1978 and was put together by Avalon Hill.

Throwback Thursday - Dragon #48 Adverts

Looking back to April 1981 and issue #48 of TSR's Dragon Magazine, here's a glimpse at what advertisers thought would stir the imaginations of gamers on the inside front cover, inside back cover, and back cover respectively.  The first was bold, in that it left a great deal to the imagination.  The second used colors meant to grab the reader.  The last of the three was, in fact, upside down.  Enjoy!

Throwback Thursday - Dragon #80 Adverts

It's interesting, sometimes, to look back on what was being advertised in the Dragon Magazine back in the day.  For this glimpse, I'm grabbing a copy off the shelf, Dragon #80 as it happens, and checking the inside front cover, inside back cover, and back cover advertisements as examples of who wanted the most eyes on their work.  Enjoy!
